MIAMI'S HIDDEN ARTISTIC TALENT SHINES ON PURPLE SUNDAYS ...Purple Sunday is a creative arts exchange festival held to showcase Miami's hot, upcoming artistic talent, to be held in the beautiful Redlands Koi Gardens in Homestead, Florida on March 13th, 2011. “Purple Sunday is about providing opportunity and showing people what the real Miami has to offer,” says organizer and founder Alicia Hugh. “People can come see great art work, unique lifestyle goods, and live music, but more importantly, they can meet the creators, find out what inspires them, and allow themselves to become a part of the story,” revels Ms. Hugh. Purple Sunday artists and designers have been featured in print publications such as the New Times and Miami Herald, as well as online publications such as www.thrillist.com, and have been present at local art events like The Wynnwood Market. “We want Purple Sunday to become a name synonymous with great local art and design, where artists and vendors, whether advancing or well-noted, can come to exchange creative ideas, network, and showcase their work,” adds co-founder Rachel Hugh. Purple Sunday was birthed in April 2009, when sisters Alicia and Rachel Hugh, with a handful of friends, realized their creative work had no platform or outlet to show the public. The first event took place in a neighbourhood backyard, with only a handful of vendors and approximately 80 attending. The first event generated so much attention and demand that Ms. Hugh organized the second just months after, in July 2009, and changed the venue to the Redland Koi Gardens to accommodate more guests. Ten vendors were booked and 250 people attended. This year they are approximating to have 20 vendors and at least 400 people attend. For further information and vendor details, please contact Alicia Hugh at info@purplesundayfestival.com , or check out our website at www.purplesundayfestival.com

Ever get that chorus that loops over and over again in your head... or if not that maybe a song that keeps coming to mind... or that you can't take off heavy rotation... well we here @ Blackheart central have found that in the song by London based lo-fi music group Wolf Gang titled, "Back to Black". Listen and enjoy but it may get a little addictive... Can't say we didn't warn you. :-)

Gabe Leonard was born and raised in Wyoming where he spent his childhood trying to skateboard on gravel roads in the summer and digging his parents car out of six foot snow drifts in the winter. After graduating from Campbell County High School in 1994. He attended the Columbus College of Art and Design where he graduated with a bachelor of fine arts degree in 1998. Upon graduation Gabe moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dreamas a background painter for feature animation. Unfortunately, in 1998, most of the studios began firing their traditional artists, sending production overseas or moving into digital formats. Gabe took a part time job at Macy's (folding shirts) while going from studio to studio competing for any opening against the many experienced, out of work, studio artists who were applying for the same jobs. In February of 1999, to supplement the insufficient wage Macy's paid, Gabe started selling color copies of his paintings on the boardwalk of Venice Beach. By May of the same year Gabe quit working for Macy's. With the bit of success he found selling his work in Venice, and the independence that came with it, Gabe decided to continue to follow his own path and discontinued the pursuit of studio jobs. Since then Gabe has continued to sell his work at outdoor events and gallery exhibits.
This current work is centered around westerns, mobsters, gun slingers, and notable historical figures.
One do you get when you take 1 Darling Nikki (by prince), and 1 Foo fighters band and mix thoroughly? Straight Dope sounds!!!! see for your self below:
